My job wont let me have facial hair?

Whats the deal with this kind of crap..I have to shave every single day and it makes my face break out damnit!!!..lol...I want to grow out a beard!!!..Does your job make you shave everyday??...What are your thoughts about that??

My job wont let me have facial hair?

I work in the operating room and body hair is just another thing that can fall into the sterile field or possibly into the patient's incision. Just be glad you don't have to have your arms as well as your face!

Until your company becomes a monopoly on the job market. Deal with it and stop bitching 'because you can easily just choose not to work for them.

Again, stop bitching.

Yea.... im in the military and we have to shave everyday too. A lot of jobs have standards of appearance so just shut up and collect your check.

What's the job anyway?

did they tel lyou that at the interview? if they did, you're stuck with the shaving. if not, you may be able to fight it thru personnel. they should give you reasons, appearance neat because of type of work (sales) maybe? seek advice thru beauty salons/barber shops to make shaving less irritable that is, shave/nair whatever tolerable until you find another job. or claim religious reasons you can't shave? maybe you are mennonite or something like that? wouldnt that make you exempt to that directive at work? check it out.

Shave off your eyebrows and draw a fake beard on your face with a pen just to piss them off

How I feel about it depends on the job. I am currently self-employed, involved in real estate investments. I have a beard and really like it. I recently left the stressful field of teaching and, of course, shaved everyday. I don't mind shaving, but it is a pain in the drain every single day (as with you, it sometimes made my face break out, gave me a rash or an ingrown hair that hurt and caused swelling for at least a week). I don't like shaving real real close with a razor (which frequently gives me the ingrown hairs) so I started using an electric razor, which (despiite all the commercials to the contrary) never cuts as close as a blade.

If your facial hair grows rather quickly and you get that "5 o'clock shadow " earlier in the day, have an electric razor at work and just lightly buzz off the excess after lunch---that should get you through the rest of the day. This way, you can be clean shaven without having to shave so close that your face breaks out. Just don't grind on your face so that it cuts too closely and gives you ingrown hairs.

Also, start looking for a job elsewhere, but be sure, before you even apply, that facial hair is okay. (I have a neatly trimmed rather short beard, see my 360 page avatar. I have the beard because honestly I am sick of shopping for plain old injector razor blades. All stores have now are those goofy shaver heads with two or three blades in them.)
