Several placement companies have told me it is preferable to those hiring for a candidate to be clean shaven. However, if you are partial to facial hair, keep it well-groomed.

I beleive so, it just has to be trimmed and neat. No "stubble" look.

Yep, definitely if it's neat and well groomed. Don't go in with the whole just woke up from a two day bender stubbly unshaven look. :)

I do not judge candidates by their facial hair if it is well trimmed and they are well groomed %26amp; dressed for the interview. I do, however judge them by their attitude regardless of their appearance.

Take it from an HR Rep...it is ok but it MUST BE NEAT and trimmed

It's probably OK if you are applying for a job like a lumberjack, steelworker, or for work on a fishing ship.
Is it acceptable to have facial hair for a job interview?
Well, it depends on what kind of job you're applying for. For a business job, a nice, neat 'stache would work, but a goatee wouldn't. Stubble isn't okay for most jobs. But the most important thing is to keep whatever it is neat.
It would help to visit the company in action, if possible. If you see lots of guys with goatees, then they're probably accepted. If you don't see any people with beards, it's not a good idea to keep yours.

It might vary from company to company. Why don't you check out the employees at the place you'll be working and see what they look like? If you've noticed that everyone is wearing a shirt and tie and they're cleanshaven, there's your answer.
